Artificial Intelligence : The Next Frontier

Artificial intelligence is the next frontier, better known as “AI”, in short makes it possible for machines to learn from experience, allows them to adjust to new inputs and also allows them to perform tasks that are human-like in nature. You may not have even realized that you’ve come across some type of AI through out your life, a good example is the game of Chess on most computers.

Some History of Artificial Intelligence

The actual term Artificial Intelligence was used as early as 1956 believe it or not. AI as we know it today is becoming more advanced and a lot more different technology is being created due to the ability to process large volumes of data faster, implementation of advanced algorithms and the increased capacity of computing power and massive storage ability. What used to be held in huge 6-8 foot servers are now held in your hand.

It was the foundation that was created back then that paved the way for the automation and formal reasoning that we see in computers today, including decision support systems and smart search systems that can be designed to complement and augment human abilities.

Why is Artificial Intelligence so Important?

AI is very important as it automates repetitive learning and discovery through data. But most people confuse AI with robot automation; AI is much different from hardware-driven, robotic automation in so many ways. Instead of automating manual tasks, AI performs frequent, high-volume, computerized tasks reliably and without fatigue.

AI adapts, it's constantly evolving through progressive learning algorithms to let the data do the programming. AI targets and finds structure and regularities in data so that the algorithm acquires a skill, basically the algorithm itself becomes a classifier or a predictor. Keep in mind that the AI in itself isn’t the next frontier but it’s the large amounts of data that will make AI the next frontier. The players with the most data will be the leaders in the AI industry.
